Join 6th Grade Band
-Band is a class students have the opportunity to take in their 6th grade year at Lynchburg Clay Middle School.
-Students are expected to practice their instrument at home 4 times a week.
-There are 2 events a year that happen outside of the school day.
-Winter Concert: Wednesday, December 13, 2023
-Spring Concert: Wednesday, May 1, 2023
-Families will need to rent or purchase an instrument to participate in this class. If you have difficulty with this, Please contact [email protected]

-The instruments in this list are great quality instruments for a beginner.
-Please understand that quality instruments are easier to play and damage less easily than some instruments you find online for $200.
-Quality instruments that play easily make it more fun for students
- A student that struggles to make a good sound will not enjoy band.
Flute- Gemeinhardt, Yamaha, Conn-Selmer, Jupiter
Bb Clarinet- Buffet Crampon, Yamaha, Jupiter, Selmer, Conn-Selmer
Alto Saxophone- Jupiter, Yamaha, Selmer, Conn, Selmer, King
Bb Trumpet- Bach, Yamaha, Schilke, Adams, Getzen, Blessing, Conn
Trombone- Yamaha, Bach, King, Jupiter,
*Trombones come with or without an "F Attachment". It is ideal for students to play on instruments with an F Attachment as early as possible.
***Students are not permitted to play on instruments that have colors other than the standard color***
Flutes: Silver
Clarinets: Black body with Silver keys
Saxophones: Yellow Brass with Silver Keys
Trumpets/Trombones/Baritones: Yellow Brass or Silver Plated.
Percussion: Silver Bars
